How to use it

Start from the closed cube, open one corner and let the magnets lead — never force a piece. Our step-by-step first-fold guide covers the crown, the star and the way back to the box.

Collect & connect

Every Shashibo — DODECA, OCTA and ICOSA XL — connects with the others through its outer magnets, so this one will join any cube you already own.

More about Shashibo ICOSA XL Blue Planet

If the OCTA is a pocket globe, the Blue Planet ICOSA XL is the full atlas. It packs 72 ultra strong magnets and more than 200 configurations, and as you work through them three unique designs come into view. The earthy, oceanic theme rewards exploration, with each new fold showing another side of the planet.

It is made for collectors and puzzle fans who want bigger builds, yet the printed instructions and video tutorials make it approachable for beginners. Play it at the desk, in the classroom or on the sofa. It is recommended for ages 8 and up. Connect it to the Blue Planet OCTA to build a world with its own little moon.

How it compares on this shelf

Shashibo ICOSA XL Blue Planet is the Earth-themed XL, and it sits naturally between Shashibo ICOSA XL Cosmos, which looks out at the stars, and Shashibo ICOSA XL Mystic Ocean, which dives under the surface. Blue Planet takes in both land and sea in one earthy, oceanic design. Like the others it carries 72 magnets and three unique designs; its OCTA Blue Planet partner costs a little less and joins it like a small moon.

Good for all ages!

Just unboxed today, it arrived while my 5 year old was having a meltdown and couldnt be calmed, I started playing with it next to her and in a few minutes she calmed down to ask 'whats that?' She asked to play with it. Now been playing with it for an hour and a half. Found a shape she decided looked like a spaceship, been playing with that ONE shape for the past 20 mins. I liked playing with it, she obviously likes playing with it. The movement is smooth and the clicks are satisfying, its regulating to see the patterns form and feel it shift. It seems high quality, the stickers are very strong, its heavy for its size, its been dropped multiple times already and seems totally fine. Seems too difficult for my 3 year old, or maybe she just needs to get the hang of it, but shes tried to force the stickers the wrong way a few times and it hasnt broken. Really pretty toy, I got the 'Fire Goddess' cube and the designs go well together. Honestly it was worth the $25 just to calm that meltdown and give us a couple hours of peaceful, regulated play. If it can repeat it itll be worth its weight in gold. And Im sure Ill still enjoy shutting my brain down with it sometimes. Do recommend!

Questions about Shashibo ICOSA XL Blue Planet

Is Blue Planet a good classroom Shashibo?

Its Earth theme and the printed instructions inside make it a natural fit for a classroom or a curious kid's desk. It is silent, and the official age is 8 and up.

What is the matching smaller piece?

The OCTA Blue Planet. Clicked onto the ICOSA XL through the outer magnets, it reads like a moon orbiting a much larger world, and it costs a little less if you want to add it later.

How long will it take to run out of shapes?

A long time — the ICOSA XL offers more than 200 configurations, and each one reveals new parts of the design. Many players keep inventing their own forms as well.
