More about Shashibo Hello Kitty — Kawaii

Kawaii is all about small joys, and that is exactly what this cube delivers in your palm. The Hello Kitty collection runs from Kitty White's famous bow to Kuromi's punk edge, and the Kawaii design leans firmly into the sweet side. Give it a twist and the panels rearrange; give it another and you are holding a whole new shape. More than 100 transformations wait inside.

Thirty-six ultra-strong magnets keep the cube sturdy while it opens and closes, so it handles plenty of fidgeting. It is a calm, screen-free pastime that also trains working memory and spatial thinking as you learn which moves lead where. Keep it on a desk for between-task resets, tuck it into a backpack for school, or wrap it up for the Sanrio fan who already owns every plush.

How it compares on this shelf

Kawaii is the sweetest of the three Hello Kitty cubes. Rainbow is about full-spectrum color and Garden Doodle about a hand-drawn, outdoorsy sketch look; Kawaii leans fully into cute. All three cost the same, so the choice is about mood: Kawaii for the classic Sanrio fan, Rainbow for the color lover, Garden Doodle for the doodler. If you are unsure which one a fan will like, Kawaii is the safest gift.

Fun for all ages, and creative.

Gave it to my six year old great-grandson and his mother says it is "rad". He was immediately finding shapes he could play with and identify. Should keep him occupied for a good long while.

Questions about Shashibo Hello Kitty — Kawaii

How is Kawaii different from Rainbow and Garden Doodle?

Kawaii leans into classic cute, Rainbow spreads a bright color spectrum across the panels, and Garden Doodle uses a sketchbook-style drawn look. All three are 100+ shape magnetic cubes and connect to each other.

Is the Kawaii cube good for a dorm room?

Yes — it is quiet, screen-free and small enough for a desk shelf. Keep it a little away from laptops and phones, since the brand warns that magnets can affect electronic devices.

Is the Kawaii cube a good gift for a Sanrio collector?

It suits fans who already have the plush and want something to handle, not just display. Recommended for ages 8 and up; it opens on only two of its corners, so first-timers should look for those.
